Password Management through OAM

Hi ,

I am exploring the password management feature of OAM. In my case I have AD as identity store. document states that we have to extend the AD scheme with custom ob* objeclass & attributes.

After observing the ldif file, AD already contains attributes that provide this functionality. Then, why does we need to extend the AD scheme with these attributes?
