SES and remote search without Interaction HUB

in PeopleTools and Lifecycle Management - PSFT (MOSC)

We are in the planning phase of our PeopleSoft Financial Upgrade from 9.1 to 9.2 with tools 8.55. We are already on HRMS 9.2 with tools 8.54.08. We are thinking about using remote search between HR and Finance without using Interaction HUB after the upgrade. Remote search requires that SES instance be shared between databases. At the same time as per doc id 1560981.1 "All of the systems should be on same tools release". Does it mean we cannot upgrade our finance to tools 8.55 if we want to use remote search?
