Using Gmail with Oracle Workflow Inbound and Outbound messaging Service

Dear Workflow Experts,

My firm uses Gmail for business emails. But when it comes to Oracle Workflow approval notification mails (for Purchase Requisitions), we use a staging mail box on Lotus Notes and on a different server. Oracle's outbound notifications are sent via this staging Lotus Notes Mail Box to the Approver's Gmail account. When the Approver responds, the responses are then sent back to the Lotus notes mail box from when Oracle's Inbound processes picks up the response and updates the workflow accordingly.

My question is: Can the oracle Workflow mail account be configured directly on Gmail as opposed to using an Lotus Notes account? Does any one have experience of this please? Thanks
