Left-aligned grid navigation bar buttons not working

I have PeopleTools 8.53.

On pages with wide grids, I like to align the navigation bar to the left to ensure that the buttons are visible. However, I have found recently that in Firefox and Chrome, when buttons are aligned to the left they do not work. Clicking the buttons animates them as if they have been clicked but nothing happens. This issue does not occur in Internet Explorer 11.
