Can we change messages of ota workflow?

Hello,

I want to modify the messages in the OTA Workflow.  I have been doing research, and it is not getting any clearer for me.  I would like to know:

1) If we change the messages in the OTA Workflow, are we still covered by support for this workflow?

2) Will future patches overwrite my changes?

3) Do I have to change the access levels for the messages?  They all seem to be 20,0,20.
