PT 855 Upgrade - Converting Database Data Types required?

Hello all,

I am performing a upgrade of a Campus Solutions 9.0 environment from Peopletools 8.53 to 8.55. In the change assistant template there is a whole bunch of tasks related to "Converting Database Data Types". In the documentation it mentions.

"If you are using a PeopleSoft application database (for example, HCM, FSCM, CRM, or ELM), you should not run this conversion as part of the PeopleTools only upgrade. Do not run this task unnecessarily."

We are upgrading a Campus Solutions environment, so I am assuming we should NOT be running this task. Should we be skipping all the steps in the converting Database Data Types? Steps are listed below. Does anyone have any info as to why you would perform these steps on a people tools only database but not on a application database? What would the difference be, a delivered application is still just an application sitting in a peopletools database.
