How does Peoplesoft Calculate Average Daily balances (MTD,QTD and YTD)

We are trying to activate the ADB functionality delievered by Peoplesoft

I see from the demo instance we have that there is a setup for Month to Date, Quarter to Date and Year to Date ledgers

The Ledgers for a unit component shows a monthly caltendar attached to both the MTD and QTD average ledgers and a Daily calendar attached to the YTD average ledger

I am not able to follow the math done by the average engine. For example, my ACTUALS ledger (source ledger) has a monthly calendar attached to it (12 periods in a year from Jan to Dec) and I post an entry as under:
