Using profile else than default in configuration manager

Hi

As all of you know we can make profile more  than "Default" in cinfiguration manager of PeopleTools. I wanted to know how can we use them. Like if I make a profile for PT8.55 and one for PT8.53 how can I use them both for their respective PeopleTools version.
