Why does the app seem to hang?

Greetings and thanks in advance for any ideas.  We are running short on patience and ideas and could really use a few suggestions on where to look.

Our setup:

3 new test servers (app, web, db), 3 new prod servers (none of these are actually in production yet). 

These environments represent our future prod/test environments as we are upgrading to Tools 8.55.01 from 8.53.10. 

App is 9.2, default view is Classic and we're showing breadcrumbs.

Details:

We have TST2 that seems to be working fine on the test boxes.  We have SBX2 also on the test boxes that has a couple of problems (details below).
