PeopleTools Upgrade from 8.53 to 8.55 Installation Procedure - Install 8.55 via Virtual CD or DPK?

We are upgrading our ELM v9.2/Tools 8.53 and HR applications v9.2/Tools 8.53 to PeopleTools 8.55. Our platform is WIndows 2012R2 / MSSQLserver. These applications were installed using the detached Peoplesoft Homes, i.e., PS_HOME, PS_APP_HOME, PS_CONFIG_HOME are on separate directories/folders. We have separate servers for Web and Application Servers.

Starting with PeopleTools 8.55, DPK is the recommended approach to install the PeopleTools. However, The document for PeopleTools 855 Installation for Microsoft SQL Server is still referring to the 'old' way of installation. and nothing is referred in the document as to installing it via DPKs. I have also downloaded the PeopleTools 8.55.05 patch and in this package, it documents installing it via DPKs.
