printing MICR in bold / BI Publisher / Peopletools 8.55

We are working on converting crystal checks to BI publisher checks. We got the micr working on NT scheduler and it prints fine but for some reason I cannot get it to print in bold. We see the difference in the template when make it bold but the pdf never has it bold. We tried running locally and on the process scheduler. Has anyone experienced this problem?
