Approver not receiving email notification

Dear Workflow Gurus!

We have an Approver who does not receive email notification for a specific item type: AP Invoice Approval. She seems to receive emails notifications for PO Requisition item type. Is there any setting that would allow/prevent notifications at the workflow Item type level? Any pointers in this regards would be appreciated.
