Run control with spaces

In our PT8.55 + 9.2 env there are inconistencies with how run control values with spaces are handled.  On most pages (AM, BI, AR, AP, GL) if you try to enter a run control value with a space (eg. sp ace) it will throw an error saying:

Invalid Run Control ID. (65,33)  The entered Run Control ID is not valid.  Because this field is passed as a single parameter, it cannot contain embedded spaces.

However, on some other pages (e.g. PTs > App Engine > Request AE) I can add a new runcontrol value (enter username + run control value with a space in it, eg. "sp ace" + program name of say "AEMINITEST") > add > Run > select AEMINITEST > OK.  At this stage the Run Control value is validated, and the "
