Does anyone know what Define Batch Truncate Threshold should be set to?

We are having some issues with our GL_JEDIT program taking a very long time.   We are currently upgrading to PeopleSoft 9.2/PeopleTools 8.55.  One difference between the upgraded environment and our Prod environment I noticed is with the Batch Truncate Threshold.  In Prod we don't have anything in this table.  In the 9.2 environment it has the GL_JEDIT program and 3000 as the limit.

This can be accessed General Ledger > Monitor Background Processes > Batch Truncate Threshold.

Just wondering if anyone knows what this does.  I couldn't find an explanation in PeopleBooks.
