IEXSTRCM stuck at wait function

1. Created a simple copy of IEXSTRCM workflow (followed instructions mentioned in Imp guide)

2. Created work item -> Assigned to Strategy.

3. Selected a delinquent customer -> Strategy tab -> Applied Strategy

4. copy of IEXSTRCM is kicked off but is stuck at standard wait function

Scheduled workflow background process also for this item type

Any pointers are greatly appreciated.
