Move to Next in list using PeopleCode

We have the following requirement :

1) User enters the component from the search page

2) User reviews the item and clicks approve or Deny

3) Once the items is approved - move to next item in list without clicking next in list button

I have looked around but do not see anything in PeopleCode that would does this. The only option is to setup a button as a Toolbar action, but that prevents PeopleCode for the button from being executed
