PT 8.54 Installation failed on RHEL

I was trying to install PeopleTools 8.54 (Disk 1) on RHEL 5.11 OS.  It gave the below error. Any idea what could be the issue?

"The installation of PeopleTools is complete, but some errors occurred during the install. Please see the install log for details."

The PeopleTools_log has following warning and error messages -

Modify Text File - Single File:   /opt/psoft/HCM89DEV/PSEMAgent/envmetadata/config/configuration.properties
                          Status: WARNING
                          Additional Notes: WARNING - Flexeraakt: /opt/psoft/HCM89DEV/PSEMAgent/envmetadata/config/configuration.properties (Too many open files)

Custom Action:            com.ps.pt.install.vcd.action.PSRemoveCrgRtnChar
                          Status: ERROR
                          Additional Notes: ERROR -     class com.ps.pt.install.vcd.action.PSRemoveCrgRtnChar.install() runtime exception:
