SES Search Page (.../search/query/search) returns 0 results; test search page does

I can get Search Test Page results (although intermittently, posted separately) but when I pull up the .../search/query/search page and enter any value I get 0 results.  Is there something I'm missing about the setup and/or integration?  I know this is a somewhat vague question, but I'm not exactly sure how to phrase it any better.  I followed all the steps (as best as I can tell) and the diagnotics steps work.
