OIM - Confused about how to connect to Active Directory/AD

Hi,

I am pretty new to the OIM product.  Part of what we want to do is to have OIM connect to an MS Active DIrectory instance.  One of my colleagues was researching doing this and he said that it required that we install something called a "connector server" on the target AD machine, but then, earlier this week, we were meeting with some Oracle technical people, and when we asked about this, they said (this is paraphrase) something like "No, you don't need the connector server.  Just connect the OIM directly to your AD.

Is that (no need for connector server) correct, and if so, can you explain the steps to connect the OIM to AD?
