PeopleSoft HCM Upgrade - Installation question

We are just starting a PeopleSoft HCM upgrade from 9.1 to 9.2.  To perform the install, it seems like there are 2 options: 1) Standard install following instructions in PeopleTools_855_Installation_for_Microsoft_SQL_Server.pdf

2) Installation using DPK following PeopleSoft_Deployment_Packages_for_Update_Images_Installation_March2016.pdf.

I have a couple of questions:

1) Is the DPK installation the preferred method for the install of the ongoing test/prod environments?

2)  Our DB platform is Microsoft SQL Server.  Can we still use the DPK install?
