Why OIM storing last two passwords ?

We have OIM,OAM,OUD and AD integrated environment, and OIM and OUD is integrated with LDAPSync. We are seeing weird behavior with passwords in OIM. When we change the password (ecx: Abc123#) in OIM, it is updated in OUD and AD. Later we update the password (ex: Test123#) in OUD, we are able to login with the password which we have changed from OUD and the password which we have changed earlier in OIM. But we can only see the password (ex:Abc123#) we have changed in OIM in USR and PWH tables. We did not understand how and why it is
