Occassional error status when emailing instances

in PeopleTools and Lifecycle Management - PSFT (MOSC)

Has anyone experienced a report book or report request go to Error status with "initated or processing but no longer running" message when the distribution is email?  What's strange is that the instances get emailed successfully and this does not occur with every report request.book.  We are on 8.54.20 tools running Excel 2013.
