PS FSCM Upgrade

Hi All

We are using PeopleSoft FSCM  9.20.00.000 with no image and peopletools 8.53.14.

Is it must to upgrade PSFSCM image as well if we upgrade PeopleTools. i.e. is it possible to upgrade only PeopleTools and keep working with same PeopleSoft Version 9.20.00.0000

Any ambiguity or clarity you may require in my query, kindly don't hesitate to mention.
