Elasticsearch returns no results

Elasticsearch 2.3.2_01 was deployed on a Oracle Linux 6.6 VM.  Installation was smooth and I can a see Elasticsearch process running.

I used HCM PUM 20 for proof of concept.

Created a new search instance PTSF_SEARCH and select ES.

In this page, all validations were successful (Ping, esadmin/people login test and callback URL).

Round-trip diagnostics was successful also. Search returned 1 row.

Changed the priority and set PSFT_SEARCH to 1 and PTSF_DEFAULT to 2.

Deployed PTPORTALREGISTRY and built search index.  No issues.

Now, I put any search term in global search box, it does not return any rows; instead displays:

No results were returned. Refine your search by entering different search criteria.
