why are trace files going to $PS_HOME/log directory (FSCM 9.2 PUM 20 / tools 8.55.08

We see a bunch of trace files like AE_FS_DOC_TOL_2906001.trc,  AE_GL_JRNL_CPY2_2906399.trc and AE_IU_PROCESSOR_2905428.trc.  We do not have tracing enabled for AppServer or ProcessScheduler. Tracing is disabled for AE in App Server configuration as well.  any ideas?
