Peoplesoft Fin 9.2 Bi Publisher: how to add a field to a delivered report with Data Source of XMLDoc

Hi, I’m looking to modify a delivered BI Publisher report by simply adding a field from a record that is already used in the report.  How can I achieve this?  The Data Source is XMLDoc Object and I have only worked with query-based reports.  Does this type of report point to a query?  Do I need a schema file and, if so, how can I produce this file?  I notice the schema file from the query doesn’t work.  Thank You
