Bank Reconciliation - FSPRECON Process

I have been reading through the supporting documentation relating to the bank reconciliation changes delivered in PUM 18. Am I correct in saying that, in a future PUM, the FSPRECON process will be removed ? I'm only asking as my FSPRECON process is heavily customised, to enable bank reconciliations which we would still not be able to deliver using the new configuration ?

Basically I'm stuck between spending a couple of months customising and testing the new functionality or a couple of weeks ring fencing PRE-PUM 18 config and re-applying after each PUM. I just cannot find any benefit to my automated bank reconciliation process that these changes have delivered.
