new in 8.55 - split between tools and application upgrade only templates (experiences?)

With PT 8.55 the combined upgrade template for Tools&Application has been abandoned.

The new way is to do a Tools only Upgrade first and an Application only Upgrade next.

This leaves me puzzled in some ways. In the combined Template a part of the Tools upgrade was replaced by the export/import through MVPRDEXP.DMS and MVPRDIMP.DMS.

As always this has never been a part of the Tools Only upgrades. And it is not now also.

In the Application only template this step remained, however the MTP Tools upgrade has already finished at that point which makes it kind of obsolete?
