CFAS,UDAs or Traits?

Does anyone have suggestions on what criteria to use when deciding amongst the three? 

Oracle Commerce Requirements for Item information:

We've leaned towards UDAs for meeting those requirements because the latest integration has UDAs being published/subscribed to:

An example is Gender.

My concern is that I expect that Oracle is planning on using CFAS for integration in future versions instead of UDAs.

Other Custom fields for Item

We've leaned towards CFAS instead of UDAs.

An example is NRF Size Description. 

Adding fields to RMS for custom interfaces ( store and merchandise information for interfaces to our general ledger, supplier info. for additional supplier data)
