Elasticsearch index build issue.

We have installed PeopleTools 8.55.14 and Elasticseach.  The setup up page validations all work fine and the Diagnostics page, deploy, crawl, search all work fine.  The issue is when I try to run the index build for PTPORTALREGISTRY or HC_JPM_PERSON_PROFILE the process staying processing and the async message gets and error.  The error message is

Integration Gateway: General Connection Failed (158,10836) PTSF_ES.ESIMPL.JsonService.OnExecute  Name:sendRequest  PCPC:6977  Statement:100 Called from:PTSF_ES.ESIMPL.JsonService.OnExecute  Name:doServiceStringReturnString  Statement:46 Called from:PTS

Integration Gateway: General Connection Failed (158,10836) PTSF_ES.ESIMPL.DataIngestHandler.OnExecute  Name:OnError  PCPC:4712  Statement:67

On the failed message we got this in the app server log.
