Coupons in RMS and POS

in Retail Merchandising System (MOSC) Question

To understand the usage of Coupons (Both item and transaction level) in RMS and POS. To understand the significance of 'COUPON_MAX_QTY' and 'MAX_DISCOUNT_AMT' fields of POS_COUPON_HEAD table. Do these come into effect when transactions are done at POS? Do the values present in these fields get exported to POS?
