Link to predecessor task only giving VIEW option and not opening the task

We have a requirement to show the predecessor task and be able to click on the link to take the user to the actual task. This needs the task to be OPENED to see the actual details of the task worked upon and not the view task option which gives the set up information of the task. The link is currently only defaulting to VIEW option rather than giving an alternative option to OPEN the task. I do not find any setting to open the task. Is there a way to achieve this?

Appreciate your inputs if anyone has done this kind of set up.
