Question on Migrating objects from one environment to other using App designer

Hi, I created a back-up of my App Engine Program and inserted into the Project. The upgrade options are not turned on for my back-up AE. This AE had sections, SQLs and PeopleCode. Even-though the copy option is not selected for these AE objects , the structure of the AE has been carried over to my target environment with no code in it. I would like to know, the structure was copied to target just because my back-up AE was part of my project ? Thanks, Geetha
