Displaying a Pivot Grid in a WorkCenter

I am creating a WorkCenter where I also want to include a pivot grid display.  My WorkCenter uses a pagelet consisting of a navigation collection as the menu.  Is there a way to add a content reference for the pivot grid display?  I do not want to use Pivot Grid Viewer because I don't want the end user to have to enter the search prompts.  I have successfully created a pagelet that contains the pivot grid display, but it does not work in the WorkCenter navigation.  The only way I have found to do it is to use a WorkCenter
