Will Upgrade Source Images be updated?

Hi,

With each Update Image the number of application fixes that differ between the latest Upgrade Source and the Update Image grows.

Which means a lot of extra work after the upgrade.

Will the Upgrade Source images be updated?

I see nothing mentioned nor about the intentions regarding this.

There were some posts beginning of 2016, maybe someone knows the latest news?
