How to limit the number of resends when the address is wrong?

Hi, we have a client that sometimes puts the wrong email address in for a supplier, so the workflow mailer keeps sending these emails at quite a rate.
I can fix this by updating wf_notifications and rebulding the queues, but is there any way for me to limit the number of resends that the workflow mailer will do when it sends to an invalid address?
