LDAP sync in 11gr2 PS3 OIM installation

We are in the process of installation of OIG(OIM) suite 11gR3, we need to perform OIM-OAM integration, so LDAP sync is needed at the beginning of the installation or we can perform it later? what are the pros and cons?
