Jrnl Posting/Updating Summary Ledgers

Has anyone ever seen this issue?  I am posting journal entries and trying to post directly to the summary ledger through the posting posting run control (basically the Skip Summary Ledger  Update is not checked).  One of three summary ledgers is being updated (which is one problem) and when the summary ledger is being updated the message log indicates is updating both for Feb and August (journal date 8/9/2017) (second problem).
