Using Application Designer that is on a higher minor patch than the database

Is it okay to develop using App Designer that is on a higher minor patch than the database? For example: My database is on 8.54.12 and I want to use App Designer that is on 8.54.24. What kind of problems can you encounter in doing so? My understanding is that the minor patch does not include object changes, just the software change. If that is the case, Is there really a problem in using higher minor patch version?
