App Designer Project migrations - Command line

Has anyone have experience or knowledge with migrating project from source environment to target environment through command line? Could you please share details and also if any constraints / restrictions in comparison to manual migration through App Designer. Currently we have big projects with thousands of objects and manual migrations takes many hours and this is causing delay during cut over. So we trying to see if we can achieve this buy in the unix system itself through command line would help reduce the migration time? Please feel free to share if any other better suggestions / recommendations
