CS 9.0 to 9.2 upgrade Task 1-7: Backing Up the New Release Demo Database

I'm currently running an upgrade to CS 9.2, using an Upgrade Source Image (CS92UPG1).  Task 1-7 says to backup the new release Demo database.  My understanding is that this applies to those customers using the "classic" 9.2 Demo database as the source for their upgrade.  Why would there be any need for us to backup the Upgrade Source Image database (CS92UPG1)?  And if it is required, how should it be done?  Can we simply stop the database and backup the datafiles (*.dbf)?
