BI Publisher field - hidden but printable

We are on Tools 8.55.16/HCM 9.2  - is there a way to make a field on a BI publisher .pdf template  (attached to a Report Definition)   hidden from view but printable when printed.   I see this option when I download the .pdf  and edit the field - but it still shows the field contents on display.
