PeopleSoft - Capture user email from Active Directory

PeopleSoft 9.1 - Tools 8.52.26 - Oracle 11.2.0.4

We already have a non-LDAP procedure to push employee information, via a view, to Active Directory for account maintenance.  User emails are maintained outside of PeopleSoft and are stored on AD.  We now would like to create a simple procedure for PeopleSoft to retrieve those business email addresses from AD.

Most of my research ends up pointing to LDAP as a solution.  But we do not have an LDAP skill set in house.  Or it could be that what I am finding in my research makes LDAP look much more complicated than it actually is.
