Trouble getting signature to print on accounts payable check (CHECK1.rtf) PeopleSoft 9.2

Back ground: We have upgraded from PT853/FSCM9.0 to PT8.54.29/FSCM 9.2 Image 11.  We have applied several check printing bugs to try and resolve our issue with no luck.  We have modified CHECK1.rtf using the instructions in 'How to Install Signature and MICR on XMLP checks.doc' from Doc Id 1145129.1. The MICR font prints on the check fine following these directions.  However we are not getting the signature to print on the check following these same directions.  We have a separate .rtf template which contains our ASCII character assignment for the signature and correct font selected.  The secure signature font is installed on firmware in the printer. Printer is an HP 4014 and we are using an HP Universal Printing PCL 5 driver.  If we send the separate template with the ASCII character assignment in it straight to the printer the signature prints just fine.  When we print through
