What is a good document to read for "getting current" with PUM Images?

I have been a PeopleSoft developer for decades (sad, I know).    I am very familiar with the previous Upgrade process.  I am not sure the similarities/differences between getting current with PUM images (11 to 26) and a PeopleSoft upgrade (9.1 to 9.2 for example).  Is there any good document that outlines the process?  Especially, I am interested  when and how developers can look at customization impact.
