What is the current recommendation/best practice for using or not using the EMF?

We are PS 9.2/ PT 8.55.13 (soon to be PT 8.56) customers and are wondering what the current Oracle recommendation is for using the EMF to deploy files to Linux.

To date, we have been deploying files manually since we have not had the time to set up EMF.  We are now ready to configure EMF but are not sure there is enough benefit to doing the EMF setup and maintenance.  We have gotten the sense for some recent discussions that at this point in time, use of the EMF is actually not a recommended approach, since it is easier to deploy files manually than to setup/maintain EMF.
