Adding a custom Income Tax Type to ap_incomes_tax_types table

There is a need for our 1099 Miscellaneous processing for IRS to add a custom Income Tax Type in the seeded table AP_INCOME_TAX_TYPE. Oracle Support says this is unsupported and referred to contact Oracle Consulting.

Has anyone tried adding a custom income tax type for their organization's 1099 Miscellaneous data processing needs?
