92 upgrade first MTP package question

I'm starting my first MTP and I'm confused. According to Task 10-1-2: Creating a New Change Assistant Job in the 91_to_92_through_update _image24 guide, I define the source (HRMSUPGD) and target database (HRMSDEVL) and then select the packages in the download directory to apply.

I did this and it created 2 directory structures:

UPGUPGRADE_92UPG{HR92U024-HRMSUPGD}MTP

UPGUPGRADE_92UPG{HR92UPGD-HRMSDEVL}MTP

the CA job is taking the PI image as the source and what should be my source as the target so I must have done something wrong?

Do I need to upload my new COP to the image through the change assistant?  Do I need to create a new change package? I've been looking in the docs and Peoplebooks and I don't see mention of that. Any advice would be deeply appreciated.
