Difference between SCZ and ECZ

We switched OCOM (Palladion) monitoring connection from switch SPAN ports to embedded probe on SBC. After the change lost Voice Quality stats in OCOM. Was advised by support that to get it back we need "interim-qos-update" under comm-monitor configuration. That command is only available in ECZ software while we are running SCZ on a pair of 4600. What is the main difference between the two?  Are we going to lose any feature sets if we switch to ECZ?
