IPMP queries - How transitive probing works ? difference between1 or 2 data address for IPMP

Hi all,

I am running a SPARC S7-2 and have 2 physical NICs connected separate switches.

net0 -> switch1

net1 -> switch2

switch 1 and switch 2 are connected to each other via switch 3 and all are in the same VLAN.

I intend to setup IPMP + probe base detection and read about transitive probing.

If an alternate interface can successfully send a probe to an active interface and receive a response, then the active interface is functional, and by inference, so is the alternate interface that sent the probe.

q1) is the probe send over the network ? is the probe a L2 frame with no IP headers ?
